David Buchanan has been a Chartered Building Surveyor since 1993 and set up his own Building Surveying Practice in 2000.

From an early stage in his career, David developed a working knowledge of historic buildings and their problems, including matters relating to dampness, timber decay and wood-boring insect activity. This led to the inspection and reporting on the condition of many historically important buildings in and around London. With a long-term interest in architecture and historic buildings, David was in his element from the beginning. He has even bought a 400 year old stone built cottage as a project.

This specialist experience complements the core building surveying duties undertaken by David: RICS Level 2 (survey only) Reports, Building Survey reports, and acting as a Party Wall Surveyor.

A Chartered Building Surveyor is also trained to undertake architectural services, comprising the refurbishment and extension of buildings, and David has developed the architectural side of his business to offer a full range of architectural services, from the design stage through to completion.

On a personal level, David likes to stay active, enjoying many outdoor sports and activities. Anything to get some fresh air.
