Garden Room kitchen extension

This extension replaced a smaller kitchen and outbuilding wing to the rear of this terraced Victorian cottage.

The client wanted a larger kitchen, opening out from the main cottage, to include a larger dining area and seating area, all opening out into the rear garden.

As the northerly facing rear garden was typically small for a terraced cottage, the aim was to have a glazed gable end to the extension, to make the most of the natural daylight and to allow the extension to be less visually intrusive from the garden.

A side store was included within the extension in place of a garden shed.

Rooflights in the extension roof slopes provide additional natural daylight into the extension.

The result is a light and airy extension.
